Why use a Refrigeration Mechanic

Written by A & P Refrigeration

Your fridge has stopped working, or your air-conditioner is blowing hot air. Who do you call? An Electrician or a refrigeration mechanic. Refrigerant is the gas that is used in the cooling process in both refrigerators and air conditioners. Any handling of this refrigerant gas requires a fully licensed refrigeration mechanic by law.

Blown Compresser - Commercial Refrigeration

Old cold-rooms can sometimes be problematic. They often use excessive amounts of electricity, and every now and then they do not run at a cold enough temperature. Running a business is difficult enough as it is; the last thing any food business wants to go through is having cold-room issues, as managers are then side-tracked by thinking about food spoilage. Unfortunately, these events happen, and when they do, you need someone to act, and act fast.

Room Air Conditioners

Room air conditioners cool rooms rather than the entire home or business. If they provide cooling only where they're needed, room air conditioners are less expensive to operate than central units, despite their efficiency generally being lower than that of central air conditioners.

Smaller room air conditioners can be plugged into any household circuit that is not shared with any other major appliances. Larger room air conditioners need their own dedicated circuit. The largest models require a dedicated circuit.

The Organized Fridge

3 Tips to an Organized Fridge

1. Keep Your Cool
Set the temperature to 5C or below any warmer and you risk growing harmful food bacteria.

2. Are Your Fridge Drawers Humid?
Check humidity settings on produce crispers and deli drawers. Each needs to be correct setting to maintain optimal freshness.

3. Love Your Leftovers
Store leftovers for up to 4 days in clear glass containers. Seeing what foods are left over helps you to eat them sooner!

How To Maintain Your Fridge

5 Tips to Maintain Your Fridge

Whether you have a Cool-Room, Cold Storage Facility or Kitchen Fridge, to keep your systems up & running it is a good idea to remember these 5 maintenance tips

1. Check the Door Seals Regularly

A loose seal allows cool air to seep out, wasting energy and causing your fridge to work harder than it needs to. First make sure the seals are free of food residue. (Clean them about twice a year, using a toothbrush and a solution of baking soda and water.)

2. Keep the Coils Clean

When the condenser coils (see following page for more on parts) are covered with dust, the refrigerator can’t run efficiently. Twice a year, pull the machine from the wall to reveal the coils in back (or snap off the grille, if the coils are on the bottom front), unplug the refrigerator, and vacuum with the brush attachmen

Prepare your Air Conditioner for summer

Written by A & P Refrigeration

Is your air-conditioner in its tip-top shape for 2012's SIZZLING summer?

Predictions for the summer of 2012-2013 in Queensland is higher than average temperatures and below average rainfall. This also increases the likelihood of bush-fires, heatwaves and thunderstorms. All of which aren't friendly to your air-conditioners.
